Doors & Carpentry

Doors that close right. Trim that lines up.

A door that sticks or won't latch is usually a hinge, frame or strike-plate issue — not the door itself. We fix the real cause, and bring full finish-carpentry skill to baseboards, casing and trim.

  • Interior doors hung in existing frames — hinges, latch and hardware set
  • Sticking, dragging or won't-latch doors fixed at the cause
  • Baseboards, shoe mould and casing repaired or replaced to match
  • Pet doors cut and fitted into a door or wall
  • Frame, hinge and strike-plate repairs handled the same visit

More about this service

Doors that close right and trim that lines up

A door that sticks, drags or won't latch is almost never the door's fault — it's a loosened hinge, a shifted strike plate or a frame that's moved with the seasons. Our technicians fix the actual cause, so the door swings and latches the way it should instead of getting planed down until it rattles. We also hang new interior doors in existing frames, cut and fit pet doors, and repair frames, casings and hardware on the same visit.

This is where BuildMan's builder background really shows. Finish carpentry — baseboards, shoe mould, casing and trim — is a core skill for our crew, not an afterthought, so profiles are matched, corners are tight, and the result looks original to the home. Across Toronto and the GTA, homeowners call us for the doors and trim other handymen botch. Most door adjustments take well under an hour; larger trim runs and multiple doors are handled in a single one-to-three-hour visit.

FAQ

Doors & Carpentry — common questions

My door won't latch — is that a quick fix?

Usually yes. It's almost always a hinge that's loosened or a strike plate that's shifted — both are quick adjustments. If the frame has moved we'll re-set it. Most are well under the 1-hour rate.

Can you install a brand-new door?

We hang a new slab or pre-hung door into an existing frame, set the hinges, latch and hardware. A brand-new frame with full trim and casing is a larger job we'll quote on-site.

Do you do baseboards and crown moulding?

Yes — our techs are builder-trained, so trim is a core skill. Baseboard runs, shoe mould, casing and moulding are all handled, matched to your existing profile.
