A renovation is a major investment in your home. Here's the experience and accountability behind every BuildMan project.
15+ years building and renovating GTA homes from the ground up — not a general handyman doing renovations on the side. That structural knowledge is why our finishes last.
Full liability insurance and WSIB coverage on every trade on your site, so your home and our crew are protected throughout the build.
Registered with Ontario's Tarion new-home warranty program — a bar most renovators never have to meet.
A single all-in quote and one point of contact from demo to sign-off. No open-ended hourly billing, no chasing five separate trades.
Real, verified reviews from GTA homeowners — read them on our Google listing.
We file, schedule and pass every required building, plumbing and electrical permit and inspection — you never deal with the city.
On a Toronto kitchen remodel, the first question is usually the wall. Post-war bungalows across Scarborough, Etobicoke and North York were built with a closed kitchen behind a wall that often carries the ceiling joists, and many Victorian and Edwardian semis downtown have a bearing wall running down the middle of the house. Opening it up is very doable, but it needs an engineered beam, posts carried down to proper footings in the basement and a building permit. We confirm whether a wall is load-bearing on the first visit, before you fall in love with an island that depends on it.
Range hood ducting is the item most often done badly. A hood should exhaust outdoors through rigid duct sized to the fan, not recirculate into the cabinet above or dump into a joist bay. In semis with the kitchen at the back, the shortest route is usually straight through the rear wall, which is worth settling before the cabinet layout is final.
Sequencing keeps a kitchen on schedule: demolition, rough-ins and inspection while walls are open, drywall, flooring where it runs under the cabinets, then cabinets, templating, counters, backsplash and finally appliances. Ordering cabinets before measurements are taken off the framed room is how kitchens end up with filler strips everywhere. For line-item numbers, read our kitchen renovation cost guide for Toronto, and if you only need new appliances connected, see appliance installation.
3–6 weeks typical, depending on scope. Galley kitchens can be 3 weeks; chef's kitchens with custom cabinets and structural work run 5–8 weeks. We provide a written schedule before demolition.
A refresh (new countertops, backsplash, paint and hardware) typically runs $25,000–$50,000; a standard full renovation with new cabinets $55,000–$90,000; and layout changes or custom chef's kitchens $80,000–$120,000+. See our 2026 cost table above, or the full Kitchen Renovation Cost in Toronto guide for a line-item breakdown.
Absolutely. Many clients keep cabinets and refresh fronts/handles, replace just countertops and backsplash, or rework layout while keeping the existing flooring. We design around your priorities.
A like-for-like cosmetic refresh usually doesn't. Moving plumbing or electrical, or taking out a wall, does require a City of Toronto permit — and if the wall is load-bearing it needs an engineered beam. We handle the permits and inspections and confirm what your job needs on the first visit.
$25,000–$50,000 for a refresh-style reno. $55,000–$120,000 for a full reno with new cabinets, layout changes, and finishes. Custom kitchens with islands and panelled appliances can run higher.
We coordinate licensed gas fitters for any gas range or appliance moves. We don't work on gas ourselves — that's a TSSA-licensed trade — but we manage the schedule end-to-end.
