BuildMan's office is at 20 Staffern Drive in Concord, so Vaughan is our home turf. The city's housing is mostly newer than Toronto's. Thornhill's Vaughan side west of Yonge filled in during the 1970s and 1980s with brick two-storeys and back-splits. Woodbridge grew through the 1980s and 1990s with large detached homes, often with stone and stucco fronts, double-height foyers and finished basements with cold rooms. Maple, Vellore Village and Sonoma Heights are 1990s to 2010s subdivisions, Kleinburg adds estate homes around the old village core, and the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre is new condo towers.

Vaughan permits are issued by the City of Vaughan's building standards department. Thornhill is the catch: the community is split along Yonge Street, so a house west of Yonge falls under the City of Vaughan while one to the east falls under the City of Markham. Simple repairs need no permit either way. A new deck high off grade, a basement apartment, a removed wall or new plumbing drains do, and our BCIN-qualified team files with the correct city and books inspections. Electrical circuit work goes to a licensed electrician.
