By BuildMan · Painting & touch-ups from $150 flat
Painting prices in Toronto swing wildly depending on the scope. A full-house repaint from a dedicated crew can run into the thousands; a scuff repair, an accent wall or a single small room is a different job entirely — and often perfect for a flat-rate handyman.
Where a handyman fits (and where a crew does)
For touch-ups, an accent wall, trim, a small bedroom or a powder room, a handyman is usually the better value — BuildMan handles these at flat rates from $150 (1 hour) with no crew minimum. For repainting an entire house or multiple large rooms, a dedicated painting crew with sprayers is the right tool. Know which job you have before you call.
What drives the price
- Prep. Filling holes, sanding, and patching drywall is often more of the job than the painting itself.
- Number of colours & cutting-in. Crisp lines between colours and around trim take time.
- Ceilings and height. Ceilings and stairwells are slower and may need extra equipment.
- Condition of the walls. Glossy, dark or damaged walls need priming.
- Paint quality. Better paint covers in fewer coats — worth it. Materials are billed at cost.
Typical handyman painting jobs
- Scuff & nail-hole touch-ups: often 1 hour ($150).
- An accent wall: 1–2 hours depending on prep.
- A small room or trim: 2–3 hours ($255–$340).
Prep is everything
A great paint job is 80% preparation. Cheap quotes that skip filling, sanding and priming look fine for a month and then telegraph every flaw. Our builder-trained techs prep properly so the finish lasts — and because we also do drywall, holes and cracks get fixed right before a brush touches the wall.

How much does it cost to paint a small room in Toronto?
A small bedroom or powder room typically fits BuildMan's 2-hour ($255) or 3-hour ($340) flat rate including prep, depending on wall condition and number of colours. Paint is billed at cost.
Should I hire a handyman or a painting company?
For touch-ups, accent walls, trim and single small rooms, a flat-rate handyman is usually better value. For whole-house repaints or many large rooms, a dedicated painting crew is the right choice.
Do you patch holes before painting?
Yes — we fill nail holes, patch drywall and sand as part of the prep so the finished wall is smooth.
